Coastal Home Decor: Curated Looks For Every Room And Budget

Whether you live on the coast, or you simply have a love for classic coastal decor, this blog post is for you. For as long as I can remember, I have loved traveling to the coast and have always particularly loved little coastal towns and the homes that adorned the towns. Last year, my husband and I purchased a home in Charleston, South Carolina so we could finally have our very own home on the coast, and it has been an absolute dream. Our home in Baltimore, Maryland does have some hints of the coast, but as you can imagine, our Charleston home really reflects coastal living in the decor choices and color palettes. Here is an Exclusive Room-by-Room Tour of our Charleston Home. In the tour, you will get to read more about the journey of buying a home in Charleston, my design inspiration and all the details on household essentials and home decor that we purchased.

Recently, I have been posting a lot of coastal inspired content, so I thought it would be a good idea to create a blog with all my coastal designs—new and old! I hope having all the content in one place makes it easier for you to find inspiration and to shop trending finds from brands like Serena and Lily, Amazon, Pottery Barn, Wayfair, Target and so many more!

Blue and White Home

Nothing says “beach house” quite like blue and white home decor. Blue and white are a classic duo that enrich any space. One thing I love about blue and white home finds, is how they never go out of style—they’re classy and timeless. Will I ever stop posting blue and white home finds? Probably not. This classic color combination has been around forever and I foresee it staying around. Whether you have a coastal home or you are dipping your toes in the much-loved grandmillienal style, these high and low budget finds are for you. Blue and white invites a preppy and sophisticated look into a space while also bringing with it feelings of peace and rest. Many of the larger furniture finds shown below are from Caitlin Wilson, but don’t be surprised when you realize several are also from Amazon. This white cabinet with cane doors is for those with a higher budget, but I also found this budget friendly look-a-like from Target. I actually own and love the blue velvet sofa—can you guess where it’s from?? Many of the lighting finds shown in this section are from—you guess it—Amazon!

Bayfront Home

Maybe you live on the water, but you prefer warmer tones as opposed to all things blue and white. When I think of living on the bay I think of Fairhope, Alabama. Fairhope is the sweetest town with the most beautiful Southern charm. in Fairhope, the pace of life is slow, the streets downtown are cobblestone and homes are adorned with natural wood elements, shades of green, gas lanterns and the loveliest earth tones. In the curated looks below you will find darker colors than you would typically find in your quintessential beach home. I am such a fan of several of the art pieces shown below. I recently found this Framed Low-Country Canvas and fell in love. The scene reminds me so much of beautiful South Carolina. Some of my favorite art pieces from Amazon are this budget friendly Heron print and this Pink Audubon print. In our Charleston home, my boys actually have these Freshwater Fish prints and they are truly so stunning! Maybe you don’t live on the bay, but you live on the water in a a lake house. If so, this lake house inspired bedroom mood board would be so perfect.

Charleston Inspired Home

In the sections above I shared blue and white home inspiration as well as coastal home finds with earth tones and lots of natural elements. In this next section I want to share bright pops of colors, my favorite woven furniture and accents, preppy patterns and a touch of grandmillennial style. I love all things blue and white, but I personally love to incorporate more colors like sage and blush too. In our Charleston living room you will find many shades of blue (look at our blue velvet sofa—my favorite!!) with subtle hints of pink in our Chinoiserie Canvas Triptych Art and our Rifle Paper Co. rug. If your’e looking for an easy and inexpensive way to incorporate color or a fun print into your space, I recommend changing out your pillow covers or even adding more pillows to your space. This colorful garden print pillow is one of my Springtime favs, but if you prefer something more muted (but still something with a little bit of color), I adore this handmade floral pillow cover in blush.

Accent Pillows For Every Budget

One can never have too many pillows, right? Spring is finally here which means it is the prime time to refresh your accent pillows. Out with the old and in with all the blue, sage, and floral patterns. If I had to choose one, the “Elsie’s Garden” pillow would be my current favorite, however, all the timeless floral prints have my heart. If you are needing a solid color pillow, but still want some rich texture, then I recommend this sage velvet pillow or even this ivory embroidered pillow. If you would like to see even more pillows that I love, here’s another one of my blogs posts: “How To Decorate with Throw Pillows: 60 Pillow Combinations for Every Budget”.

High And Low Budget Lighting

Lighting makes all the difference—truly. Lighting has the ability to brighten up a room, create a unique ambiance for a space and lighting can also make a statement stylistically. Take a look at some of my personal favorite lighting solutions. Here you will find chandeliers for entryways, pendants to hang over a kitchen island, table lamps for your bedroom and so many more stunning pieces. I recently discovered this willow leaf flush mount and it quickly became a new favorite of mine. If you are on the hunt for a table lamp for your living room or bedroom, I love this affordable white and gold lamp and will never get over how preppy and sophisticated this scalloped table lamp is.
