Home Office Inspiration

I’m so excited to reveal my home office makeover! This DIY project has been in the works for months and I’m so happy with how it turned out. My home office has become my sanctuary, as it is the one space in our home that is exclusively mine. Throughout this home office makeover process, I searched high and low to find the perfect products to decorate this space and to establish it as somewhere I could come to focus, but also feel relaxed. Additionally, I will be welcoming a summer intern this year from the high school I attended and I am thrilled to share this space with her. If you’re looking for home office inspiration or searching for classic home office decor, I think you will find this post to be very beneficial!

Home Office Before and After

There really is nothing quite like looking at photos of a good before and after project. I love seeing where we started with this home office renovation in comparison to where it is now. This space was previously used as a family room, but after a fresh coat of pant, some pretty floral wallpaper, a touch of coastal and classic decor and some new furniture, it looks completely different! I used this home office inspiration mood board to guide the project. I love having this blue and white space as my happy place to retreat to and enjoy while working each day.

Affordable Home Office Furniture & Decor

When creating my new home office, I found myself using a collection of both high and low priced items. There are definitely some special and expensive items in this space, but I evened it out with some affordable home office items as well. It’s all about balance, right? Some of my favorite budget-friendly items in my home office include a collection of classic coffee table books, beautiful mother of pearl picture frames, affordable faux plants including a boxwood topiary and a white orchid, and an adorable $11 blue and white pillow cover! Splurge-Worthy Home Office Items

As much as I love an affordable find, I also found myself splurging on a few home office items. I’ve learned that paying a little extra for high-quality items that will last for years to come is often worth it in the end. A few of my favorite splurge-worthy home office items from the makeover include my Nel Lusso Light Blue Bike, this gold glass coffee table, the ultra-comfortable and chic white sofa, the classic gold accent mirror and my favorite solid wood credenza desk. These classic home office furniture and decor items are ones I felt confident spending extra money on knowing I will enjoy them for many years and they will look equally as wonderful if I decide to move them into a different space down the road. Another item I like to splurge on from time to time is a beautiful area rug. I rounded up some of my favorites in this area rug guide!

Personalized Home Office Furniture & Decor

Anytime I’m designing a room, I always aim to add a few personalized and special touches and this home office makeover was no exception. I had the honor of working with some exceptionally talented small businesses to add some one of a kind pieces to the new office. My personalized office chair is from J. Wilkinson Chair Company and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it! It is beautiful, classic and comfortable. I decided to go with the J. Wilkinson Baker Side Chair in the frame color Burnished Walnut, the fabric color Natural Linen and with the Charlotte monogram in Olive Drab. I love that this personalized chair was fully customizable and not only is it perfect for my home office, but will also look great in a dining room or living room. The stunning blue and white floral wallpaper and classic sisal wallpaper are both from Rifle Paper Company via York Wall Coverings. The beautiful abstract painting over my sofa was a commissioned piece from the extremely talented Ally Sheppard Art. She also has mini abstract paintings that would look wonderful in any room of a home. I picked up some one of a kind pieces from one of my favorite local stores, HD Marigold, including the fireplace dog statue, the blue and white candlesticks and the brass bunny bookends. Last, but possibly the most special of all, the keepsake shadow boxes with my sons’ handprints are from Cowtown Clay.

Home Office Project

It took a lot of hard work, planning and searching for the perfect products, but I am thrilled with how my home office makeover turned out! Every time I enter this space it fills me with joy and comfort, making it such a wonderful environment to work in. My goal was to decorate the home office with classic furniture and home decor so that it would be a space that looks modern for years to come. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this DIY home office makeover! Which items are your favorite? Do you like the blue and white color scheme or would you opt for something else? Do you have any questions about the project that I forgot to cover in this post? Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments below!
